Debt Management Defined
Debt Management begins by gaining an understanding of what debt really is and what you can do to gain freedom from debt. Debt in and of itself is not bad. It allows us to buy things like houses, cars and property that would otherwise take someone a really long time to buy with cash. Debt management is concerned with gaining control over that debt. Learning to control it instead of the other way around.
Debt Management begins with a budget
Debt management begins with a budget. It begins with taking a serious hard look at your financial situation and being determined to do something about it. Once you are willing to take a good hard look at your situation, it’s time to create a budget. Debt management doesn’t happen magically and it doesn’t just happen overnight. Debt management takes serious determination on your part and a desire to truly change some damaging internal beliefs and behaviour.
As mentioned, debt in and of itself is not bad. What you do with that debt though, determines whether you’ll get yourself in serious financial trouble or whether you’ll become financially stable. One example of bad debt is credit card debt. Credit card debt and consumer debt in general can be really dangerous. It is so easy to get and so easy to get in trouble over. Becoming financially educated is the first step towards controlling the monster that is credit card debt and gaining a handle on debt management.
